Kappa Semi Refined Carrageenan E407a obtained through treatment of Eucheuma cottonii of the Rhodophyceae class (red seaweeds) and fresh water washing and drying. Futher purified by washing and drying. Consists of potassium salts of polysaccharide sulphate esters which on hydrolysis, yield galctose and 3,6- anhydrogalactose.
