Garlic oil is extracted from the bulbs of the Garlic plant by using steam distillation method. Garlic is a perennial plant having small flat leaves and white colored flowers and bulbils. It is a very hardy, rooted and bulbous plant that gives a very strong odor. Every compound bulb of the tree consists of about 6 to 34 bulblets that are usually called ‘cloves’. These cloves are covered by a thin pinkish or white papery sheet. The oil that is extracted from the bulbs has a very strong smell. Garlic oil is having some useful medicinal properties like insecticidal, anti-bacterial and fungicidal. It is also considered as extremely nutritive and used in making medicines of several ailments.
