- Hesperidin, also known as hesperiden, tangerine, etc., is a natural compound that exists in citrus plants in the rutaceae family, hesperidin is a bioflavonoid that is found in large quantities in citrus fruits. Its glycoside form, called hesperidin, is thought to play a role in plant defense.
- Hesperidin is soluble in pyridine, sodium hydroxide solution, dimethylformamide solution, slightly soluble in methanol and hot glacial acetic acid, very slightly soluble in ether, acetone, chloroform and benzene. At 60℃, it is soluble in dimethylformamide and formamide, slightly soluble in methanol and hot glacial acetic acid, almost insoluble in acetone, benzene and chloroform, but easily soluble in dilute alkali and pyridine.
