Desmodium
Product description
Resembling clover, desmodium is a wild and perennial plant, with multiple leaves, native to West Africa. It is also widespread in Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Amazon region) and in all humid equatorial zones. Creeping or climbing, this plant is supported on the trunks of cocoa or oil palm trees. Measuring about 50 cm, Desmodium has hairy and trifoliate leaves, small mauve flowers and fruits in the form of pods.
Desmodium has only recently become known in Europe. Indeed, it was introduced in France in the 1970’s by Dr. Pierre Tubéry and his wife, leading to the start of numerous scientific research projects on its compounds and properties. They demonstrated its flavonoid content including vitexin and its beneficial effects in helping to protect the liver and provide good detox.
Nexira’s desmodium extract is ideal for weight management and digestive health applications, in capsules, ampoules and shot formats.
