Marshmallow root extract
Product description
Marshmallow is a hairy perennial shrub that can grow up to 1.50m high. It is mainly the two-year-old roots that are harvested. The primary roots can be up to 50 cm long. After harvesting, the wet roots must be dried quickly and promptly as this is important for further processing.
According to the HMPC monograph, the root of Althaea officinalis L. is traditionally used for the symptomatic treatment of oral and pharyngeal irritation and associated dry cough, and for the symptomatic relief of gastrointestinal problems.
