LAE® (Ethyl lauroyl arginate HCl) is a compound synthetised from L-arginine, lauric acid and ethanol. It is an effective preservative against a broad range of bacteria (Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Clostridium botulinum...) and shows activity against moulds and yeasts. Thus, LAE® is an antimicrobial that prolongs the shelf life of food products. Besides, it is easily hydrolysed in the human body into natural compounds commonly found in the diet, a property which is not shared with other preservatives currently found int he market. Mirenat® is the trade name of the range of formulated products based on LAE®.
