Calcium Alginate
Product description
Calcium alginate is milky white to light yellow powder. Calcium alginate is a divalent metal salt of alginic acid. It is insoluble in water and has good dispersibility. It can be slowly dissolved in alkaline solution or salt solution to form a viscous gel.
Calcium alginate uses:
For wound: Calcium alginate is mainly used to produce calcium alginate dressing, which can be used for hemostasis of skin injury bleeding and wound bleeding. After the calcium alginate dressing is applied to the wound, it exchanges with the sodium ions and calcium ions in the wound exudate and blood, releases calcium ions, and forms a thin gel layer on the wound surface. Due to the release of calcium ions, the formation of blood clots in the capillary ends is accelerated, thereby achieving rapid hemostasis. Due to the formation of the gel layer on the surface of the wound, it can protect the wound to a certain extent, and keep the wound at a certain humidity and temperature, creating a good microenvironment for wound healing and promoting early wound healing.
Binders, thickeners, and water-retaining agents used in food, under the influence of salt in food, calcium-sodium exchange to form thickened high calcium hydrocolloids, mostly used with sodium alginate.
Used in industrial welding materials: binders, plasticizers.
