Procyanidins (PC) are a class of polymers formed by the condensation of different amounts of catechins or epicatechins through the C-C bond, also known as condensed tannins. 
Depending on the degree of polymerization of procyanidins, they can be divided into monomeric, oligomeric and polymeric procyanidins, among which dimeric is the most widely distributed. Proanthocyanidins are precursors of anthocyanins (a precursor is a compound that precedes another compound in the metabolic pathway), and proanthocyanidins have good antioxidant properties due to their multi-electron hydroxyl group.
