Tongkat Ali is a small evergreen tree of the genus Malaysian Ginseng in the bitterwood family. The roots are yellowish, not forked, up to 2 meters deep into the ground; mainly distributed in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, mostly in beach forests, primary or secondary forests below 700 meters above sea level
